A Picture or Two

Aburi kids enjoying the frisbee provided by Super Sam and Dapper Zack Kline.

The Aburi medical clinic.  The area where they live is quite beautiful.

Kids watching the muzungus.
Cyrus, myself, Rick Tang.  Rick is our professional photographer who was sent along to take pictures for Anthill Foundation.  He and I rode all over Maundo village taking pictures of children who are felt to be great candidates for sponsorship for school fees.  This picture was taken sitting completely still and Rick was able to make it look like an action shot.  What a hoot!
Joyce is a student I am currently sponsoring.  Primary school is free in Uganda, but Secondary school requires payment.  Most children cannot afford to go beyond Primary school so John Okumu and Anthill Foundation are working to find sponsors for bright students.  John is also selecting students whose parents are active contributors to their village.  Completing their education is the most cost effective and valuable thing they can do to raise themselves up out of poverty.  To join the effort, contact Anthill Foundation.

Road in Nagongera

Guard dog on duty.  Dogs are used to protect the home and family animals at night.  Most of the dogs are tan in color and smaller than our doggies.  They are probably around 30 lbs.  It takes extreme restraint for me not to try to love on them.  I have to remember that these are not vaccinated animals that are used to a lot of human attention.

Goats. There are many baby goats around right now and they are ridiculously cute.  The momma goats are tied with a string to keep them from running off.  The people move them from place to place throughout the day for grazing.  Goats are used for meat and not for milking.

A Maundo villager and his cows.  It is common to see men walking with their cows.  They essentially free range them and herd them to keep them together.  Cows are only eaten for big feasts given the quantity of meat.
